US Investigates Foreign Ailments Employee Consulate China. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo sent a medical team to China to investigate mysterious ailments of a government official. According to The Week News, the American would show signs of mild brain damage.

The employee of the consulate in Guangzhou recently complained about annoying sounds and other inconveniences, such as an oppressive feeling. As far as we perceive, there are no complaints from others.

The situation is reminiscent of the acoustic attacks on US embassy personnel in Cuba. Dozens of American diplomats and their relatives were recalled last year when they suffered from, among other things, hearing loss, headaches, dizziness and nausea.

According to the US, Cuba carried out targeted attacks with inaudible sound waves. In April, Canada also brought back embassy staff from Cuba after similar complaints. It is not clear whether there are also acoustic attacks in China.
