Europe is the region with the highest number of cases worldwide: 258,000. The death toll in Europe stands at 14,640. Here, too, Italy and Spain are the most affected countries.
Asia is the hardest hit after Europe. There, 101,000 people have been infected with the coronavirus, and more than 3,600 people have died.
Worldwide, the number of infections is just over 481,000 and 21,800 deaths in 182 countries.
However, the WHO believes that the actual numbers are higher because, in many countries, only people with serious complaints are tested.
