British Prime Minister Johnson Will Meet the Queen Elizabeth

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who is recovering from a corona infection, will meet British Queen Elizabeth later this week.

 

The head of government has not returned to work, a spokesman emphasized. Foreign Minister Dominic Raab is still his replacement.

The meeting with the Queen is the first in three weeks. In the meantime, Johnson had been hospitalized, where he was in the intensive care unit for a while. He will speak to US President Donald Trump later Tuesday.

News of the audience with Elizabeth comes on the day the Queen celebrates her 94th birthday. Due to the corona crisis, she does so in the privacy of Windsor Castle.

Only husband Prince Philip is present. The usual festivities for the royal birthday have been cancelled.

For the first time in 68 years, no salute shots are fired. Trooping the Color, the military ceremony at the official celebration of the royal birthday will also expire in June, followed by the balcony scene.
