Canada is Not for Sale: Canadian Politician Sends Message to Donald Trump

Canadian politician and businessman Doug Ford from Ontario appeared in parliament with “Canada is not for sale” on his cap, a clear message to Donald Trump, who will officially become the new president of the United States on Monday.

Doug Ford previously responded strongly to Trump’s statements that Canada would like to ‘incorporate’ into the US.

Now Ford made a splash wearing a navy blue cap with the message “Canada is not for sale.” He got the idea from Trump’s cap with the iconic message: “Make America Great Again.”

“We must unite, and we can’t let President Trump divide us. He’s going to try to destroy our country; he’s going to try to divide our country.”

The 78-year-old Republican had previously threatened to retake control of the Panama Canal and expressed his intentions to buy Greenland.

Trump believes that Panama charges too high tariffs for American ships that want to use this crucial global trade route, which was built by the United States and transferred to Panama in 1999. According to Trump, China’s influence on the canal is also too great.

Display of power
Trump did not rule out using military or economic displays of force for both the Panama Canal and Greenland. “We need Greenland for our national security. It is debatable whether Denmark has a legal right to the area, but

Trump has also made it clear that he wants to see Canada as the 51st state of the United States. According to the incoming American president, the United States currently pays 200 billion dollars to protect Canada, while “the United States does not need anything from Canada“.” To incorporate Canada, he would only focus on economic sanctions.

Canadian politician Doug Ford made it clear what he thought of this with the message on his cap. He also posted the photo on social media, and the message was shared en masse.
