German Corona Consultation Merkel and Prime Ministers Brought Forward

According to German media, Chancellor Angela Merkel wants even stricter corona measures. That is why her next consultation with the state ministers about the coronavirus spread will be brought forward.

It is now held on Tuesday instead of the last week of January.

In Merkel’s view, the Germans do not adhere to the corona measures that are often determined and enforced by the German federal system at the state level. Some media say that Merkel wants to push a ‘mega-lockdown’ through it on Tuesday.

The stricter policy would, among other things, close childcare and educational institutions ultimately, limit people’s freedom of movement even more in time and distance and would put economic life at an even lower ebb.

Especially the latter fear many in the capital and the federal states. It would also hit the industry hard, which, according to critics of strict corona measures, is precisely the engine that keeps the country going in this crisis

Robert Koch-Initstuut, the German RIVM, reported that the number of infections was much lower than a week ago. On Friday, January 8, the institute said almost 32,000 new corona infections: about 10,000 more than this Friday.

Now it registered about 22,400 new infections, the lowest increase on a Friday in about two months.
